Las Vegas, the sin city in the middle of the desert is renowned as a gambling Mecca with wild parties but this isn’t all that is on offer in Vegas.

We take a look at 10 ways to really experience Las Vegas.

1.Pool parties

How does a party by the pool in the blazing sun with Avicii at the decks sound? Many of the larger hotels have some great pool parties on offer, including MGM with its Wet Republic party and the Wynn offering its sophisticated Encore Beach Club. If you really want to party by day in style, rent a cabana with bottle service, I mean after all you are in Vegas!

2. Grand Canyon

With the Grand Canyon so close by, Las Vegas is the gateway to this incredible national park. For those looking to experience the natural beauty from the air, regular helicopter tours depart from the airport with pick up from your hotel and a brief stop at the Grand Canyon. Whilst air is by far the quickest way to experience the Canyon, for those on a budget there are numerous bus tours available or you can self drive in just over 4 hours each way. However you choose to experience the Grand Canyon, remember your water bottle!

3. Vegas Sign

A staple of the Vegas experience is your obligatory photo by the ‘Welcome to Las Vegas’ sign. This free photo opportunity can be found between the airport and the strip although sometimes there can be a queue so try to go in the morning whilst everyone is still recovering from the night before.

4. Freemont Street Experience

Downtown Las Vegas is still as alive as ever and Freemont Street proves this. Recently renovated and boasting many great bars you can even zip line down Freemont Street! For those looking to try their luck at gambling, El Cortez casino and hotel offers some of the best blackjack in Vegas with two deck, 3:2 payout and lower minimum bets.

5. Buffet

Everything is bigger in America and the buffets are no exception. Most of the hotels on the strip offer an extravagant buffet experience providing all you can eat dishes from around the world. If you want to experience one of the more lavish hotel buffets but are watching your bank balance, go 30 minutes before changeover from Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner and you will pay the lower price but get to sample all the food.

6. Take in a show

With so many choices for shows, there is something for everything whether that is one of the many Cirque du Soleil shows based in Vegas, a male striptease at the Excalibur, Showstoppers at the Wynn or a more traditional strip show at a gentlemen’s club.

7. Nightclubs

Is no surprise that Vegas is one of the top nightlife destinations in the world boasting some of the hottest artists as resident DJ’s. With clubs such as XS at the Wynn regularly playing host to Avicci, David Guetta and Kaskade and others throughout the strip, Vegas is your one stop location for the best acts.

8. Amusements

If losing your money at the casinos hasn’t got your adrenaline levels high enough, don’t panic: there are some heart stopping amusements located throughout Vegas. The New York New York offers an outdoor roller coaster around the hotel taking you upside down but the most thrilling attractions can be found at the top of the Stratosphere – these certainly aren’t for the faint hearted.

9. Shooting

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas so why not do something you might not normally get the chance to do in your home country? Take a trip to a shooting range – there are packages especially for beginners – and experience shooting in a controlled, safe environment. Some companies will even provide free pickup and drop off, so give it a try.

10. Visit the hotels

The hotels in themselves can be as much of an attraction with incredible designs, unique offerings and welcoming environments. You might be in the middle of the desert but that won’t stop you taking a gondola down Venetian canals at the Venetian or climbing the Eiffel Tower at Paris Paris. Make sure you take time to explore the hotels and don’t miss the amazing fountain shows recently designed by Tiesto at the Bellagio.
