Norwegian continues its UK expansion, by putting on sale two new routes. The low-cost airline has just announced that it will start direct scheduled flights from London Gatwick to Santa’s home airport in Finnish Lapland and Reykjavik in Iceland during the upcoming winter season.
From the 30th of October, Europe’s third largest budget airline will offer its first UK service to the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik. Direct flights to Keflavik Airport will run three times a week throughout winter on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays – perfect for a long weekend. Fares on the new route will start from just £29.90 one way.
The first flight to Arctic Finland will run on the 19th of December – just in time for Christmas! Norwegian will fly twice a week from London Gatwick to Rovaniemi between December and March. The route will be available on Mondays and Fridays, with single fares starting at £49.90. Tickets are already available.

Those travelling from London will now find it significantly easier to visit Santa’s home town of Rovaniemi, which is an exotic destination for British travellers. And if you are lucky, you can also experience the Northern Lights – said Norwegian’s commercial director Thomas Ramdahl.
Rovaniemi is the biggest urban centre in Finnish Lapland, with a population of just over 60,000, and is located just 10 kilometres south of the Arctic Circle. In this town you can visit ‘Santa’s grotto’ with a post office that handles letters addressed to Father Christmas.
