Ferries are cheap but relatively slow, so if you lack time, a speedboat is definitely recommended. There are transfers included in the package tours.
If you travel outside Malé atoll then you will have a to book a domestic flight or a supply dhoni. To reach remote resorts you’ll need to choose far pricier seaplane. Trans Maldivian Airways provide seaplane transfer services out of Ibrahim Nasir Airport in Malé to a large number of tourist resorts.
