Ko Chang, Ko Mak & Ko Kut
Koh Chang, known as the 'Elephant Island', is located in the Eastern Gulf, around 300 kilometres east of Bangkok, in Trat Province. Thailand's second-largest island is undergoing significant tourist development but it offers long white sandy beaches, nice waterfalls and a wide range of wildlife. To get around the island, you can rent a motorbike or catch a songtheaw on its route around the main road.
Take a speedboat to the fairly undeveloped and natural island of Ko Mak. This small tropical paradise focuses on ecotourism with a limited capacity. It provides a diversity in flora and fauna, as well as beautiful beaches. Bicycles are the best option for exploring this mostly flat island, shaped like a cross. Ko Kut (Koh Kood) is the Thai island closest to Cambodia. It is largely unexplored and offers some breathtaking beaches on the west coast. Bang Bao Bay is known for its calm water. Visit Klong Chao Waterfall or Klong Yai Ki Waterfall, with huge pools that you can swim in. You can also admire the 300-year-old Macca Trees, surrounded by impressive jungle.
