Air Asia launches a new route from Istanbul ✈️
AirAsia X is strengthening its long-haul network with the announcement of a long-anticipated route linking Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Istanbul, Turkey, starting 14 November 2025.
The launch positions Istanbul – the only city in the world that spans two continents – as a new strategic gateway between Southeast Asia and Europe. Flights will operate into Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SAW), a major hub with connections to over 150 destinations worldwide. The new direct service will operate four times a week, marking the airline’s long-awaited return to the European market
Bridging Two Continents
Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X, described Istanbul as “a dream destination for many guests” and a city that perfectly reflects the airline’s vision of connecting Asia to the world through affordable, medium-haul travel.
Boosting Regional Ties
H.E. Emir Salim Yüksel, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Malaysia, welcomed the route as “a tangible step in strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” between the two nations, citing benefits for tourism, business, and education.
