Ultra luxury is one of the fastest growing segments in the hotel industry. Among the numerous suites, penthouses or villas fit for royalty, there are some that stand out, not only for the exclusivity or services provided, but also for the values charged, which can amount to tens of thousands of euros per night!

In this list of the 10 most expensive hotel rooms in the world created by The Luxury Travel Expert we can find a huge variety of accommodation – From a private island in the Maldives, a presidential suite in Geneva or the largest Penthouse in the United States – for those who have a lot, but really a lot of money (and sometimes just that is not enough).

10. The Grand Riad, The Royal Mansour, Marrakesh, Morocco.

As you would expect, the Royal Mansour is an ultra-luxury hotel that offers its guests 53 typical riads, with incredibly decorated interiors, a fantastic spa and a restaurant with dishes by chef Yannick Alléno – a chef that was awarded the coveted 3 Michelin stars. But let’s get down to business: The Grand Riad. This authentic 1800  palace

It is not exactly surprising to find a United Arab Emirates hotel room in this top. For starters, this resort is located on Jumeirah Bay…an..artificial island… shaped like a seahorse. Owned by the jewelery brand with the same name, this resort represents the epitome of luxury. It has 101 rooms and suites and 20 villas with swimming pool, terrace and sea views. The design was handed over to the famous atelier Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel. The Four Seasons Hotel is a New York icon and features a privileged location in the Big Apple, overlooking Central Park and with MoMA and Carnegie Hall within walking distance. Of the 368 suites units the hotel offers, Ty Warner Pentwhouse stands out. Located on the 52nd floor, this penthouse is considered an architectural and artistic work of art and can accommodate up to 3 people. Among the numerous features, it is worth mentioning the 360-degree view, a waterfall (yes, a waterfall) built with granite imported from South Africa, a private spa and a Rolls-Royce with chauffeur at the disposal of the illustrious guest. One night costs a modest €34,400.

Mykonos? Maybe Santorini? No, the Grand Resort Lagonissi is located at a short distance from Athens and offers its guests fantastic bungalows with sea views, private pool, private beach and luxurious wellness treatments. The Royal Villa was designed for the most demanding visitors, with 2 bedrooms, living room with fireplace, office, kitchen, gym, butler service and a spacious outdoor deck with a swimming pool that can be heated on request. The price? About €38,700 per night.

The ultra-luxurious Cheval Blanc Randheli is divided by several small islands in the Indian Ocean and is only accessible via seaplane. Among the 46 villas, Cheval Blanc Randheli Private Island stands out. As the name implies, when booking the 4 bedroom villa and with a fantastic outdoor pool, you are automatically booking an private island in the Maldives. And it’s only €42,900 🙂

Laucala Island is owned by the CEO of Redbull and also promises to “give wings” to those staying there. Among the rainforest, mangroves and paradisiacal beaches is Hilltop Villa. Located in the highest point of the island, this 3 bedroom mansion and an incredible outdoor pool also has a private driver, nurse and chef. All this for a modest €43,000.

4. The Penthouse Suite, Hôtel Martinez By Hyatt, Cannes, France

If there is a place in Europe that materializes the word chic, it’s the French Riviera. And one of the region’s ex-libris is the Hôtel Martinez. With fantastic art deco decor, reflected in the 409 rooms, and a 2-star Michelin restaurant -La Palme d’Or. If you have €47,300 you can book a night in the Penthouse Suite . This unit is about one thousand square meters and located on the top floor of the hotel and has a huge private terrace with views of the sea, a living and dining room.

3. The Mark Penthouse Suite, The Mark Hotel, New York, USA

The Mark Hotel is located on the Upper East Side, just a short hop from Central Park, MoMA or Guggenheim. Its most luxurious unit is the Mark Penthouse Suite – the largest in the United States. Designed by the legendary interior decorator Jaques Grange, this penthouse includes a roof terrace, 5 bedrooms, 4 slopes, 6 bathrooms and 2 bars. The living room is so big that it can be turned into an event room – no joke. Price per night: €64,500

2. Royal Penthouse Suite, Hotel President Wilson, Geneva, Switzerland

One of the most iconic hotels on the planet, the President Wilson Hotel offers an unparalleled view of Lake Geneva with the Mont Blanc in the background. All 226 rooms are incredibly luxurious, but the Royal Penthouse Suite stands out. Its 12 rooms and the 360º outdoor terrace with panoramic views, make the suite fully occupy the eighth floor of the hotel. Usually used by celebrities, heads of state or senior dignitaries (hence the bulletproof windows), the Royal Penthouse has a cost per night of around €68,800. 

1. The Empathy Suite, Palms Casino Resort, Las Vegas, USA

If there is a city where excess is the rule rather than the exception, it’s Las Vegas. And the epitome of that excess is the Empathy Suite at the Palms Casino Resort. With a staggering cost of €86,000 per night (and the hotel requires a minimum booking of 2 nights), this two-story unit was designed by British artist Damien Hirst – also the author of the numerous works of art that are distributed throughout the space. Guests will have at their disposal two bedrooms, two bathrooms, bar, living room with capacity for up to 50 people, gym, relaxation room, and a terrace with an outdoor pool, butler service, private driver and around €8,600 in credit to use at the hotel. The suite is available exclusively for bookings of casino customers valued at more than one million dollars.
