Wildlife
The unique ecology has led some scientists to refer to the island as the "eighth continent" of the world. For example, the lemur is only found in the wild in Madagascar. Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, near the capital city of Antananarivo, is one of the easiest parks to visit. It features eleven lemur species. Masoala National Park situated in the northeast Madagascar is home to ten species of lemur and a diverse array of birds and reptiles. You can also meet the lemurs in the Anja Community Reserve.
Isalo National Park is notable for its steep canyons, grassland and sandstone formations, all dotted by occasional pools. Ranomafana National Park is very scenic, with numerous streams splashing through densely forested hills. The Madagascar spiny forests contain an outstanding proportion of unique plant species. Around 95% of its original flora is endemic.
