Marine conservation volunteering programs
The stunning azure waters surrounding the Maldives are home to stretches of delicate coral reef. In 1998, 90% of Maldivian shallow-water corals were bleached and killed by unusually warm ocean water. Volunteers can participate in the rebuilding of the coral reefs through various conservation programs.
The local research and education centres introduce guests alike to the role we can each play in conserving the marine ecosystem, including turtles, coral reefs, sharks and dolphins. Some resorts organize several awareness programs on waste management, marine ecosystems and biodiversity. You can truly make a difference where it matters!
