Suðuroy
The Southern Islands, not quite so dramatic in terms of landscape, are appealingly low on tourists and high on friendliness. Suðuroy, the southernmost island in the Faroes, is known for the black sand beaches, cliffside lighthouses, and colourful harbour towns. There is one ferry which connects Suðuroy with the rest of the islands.
In this unique destination you can hike to the Lake Sørvágsvatn, perched high on the edge of some of the highest cliffs on the island. Pay a visit to Vágseiði to see a 200-metre-high (660 ft) cliff.
