While in Cancun, you should visit the Playa Delfines, located in the Zona Hotelera. As the last beach along the boulevard, it is rarely crowded. Isla Mujeres is an island off the coast with beautiful Playa Norte.
The Mexican name for the Atlantic coastal region of the Yucatan Peninsula is “Riviera Maya”. Bring your own snorkelling gear and swim with the turtles just off the stunning beach in Akumal. In Tulum you can relax in the white-sand Playa Paraiso. Head south to visit Maya Chan Beach in Mahahual and swim in Laguna de Bacalar (Lake of Seven Colours). This 60-kilometre lagoon with crystal clear waters and white sandy bottom is often called a lake, but is actually a series of waterways eventually leading to the ocean.
