Lamu Island
Visit the small charming island of Lamu, located 341 km northeast of Mombasa, and bask on one of its white sand beaches. The island has managed to stay unspoiled and untouched by the mass tourism. There are no roads, and therefore, there are few motorized vehicles on the island. Donkeys and dhow boats are used to transport goods and materials.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Lamu Old Town is the oldest living town in Kenya with origins dating back to the 12th century. Stroll along the labyrinthine streets to see the coral stone buildings with carved wooden doors, verandas, and hidden courtyards. Explore Lamu Museum, Lamu Fort and the Donkey Sanctuary.
