In the Kamnik–Savinja Alps you can admire one of the largest herdsmen's settlements in Europe. Big Pasture Plateau is easily accessible by cable car from Kamniška Bistrica.
This karstified mountain plateau is home to dispersed high-elevation settlement of numerous herders' dwellings. The mainly wooden huts and barns in the highland pastures are one of very few herders' settlements of this scale preserved in Europe. There are facilities for skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer.
