Interesting museums in Kiev
There are more than 100 museums in Kiev. Far from the city centre there is the Open-Air Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Life (Pirogovo), depicting how Ukrainian people used to live in older times. At the site of Kyiv Pechersk Lavra you'll find Microminiatures Museum with a mind-blowing exhibition viewed through microscopes.
Museum of The History of Ukraine in World War II, located in the base of the Motherland Monument, is a must-see. One of the largest museums in Ukraine, with over 300 thousand exhibits, is commemorating the German-Soviet War. You may also visit the museum dedicated to Kiev-born Russian writer Mikhail Bulgakov or State Aviation Museum (in the old Zhulyany Airport). In Kyiv’s Chernobyl Museum you can learn about the catastrophe of the nuclear power station (English audio guides available for a fee).
