The 14th century Royal Carthusian Monastery (Real Cartuja) in Valldemossa is where the famed Polish composer Frederic Chopin spent a winter (1838-39) with his companion, the French writer George Sand. The couple rented cells in the monastery, where Chopin composed some of his famous preludes, trying them out on the Pleyel piano, now on display.
In Palma de Mallorca you may visit the former residence and studio of Spanish Catalan painter Joan Miró, located on Calle Joan de Saridakis 29, just outside the city.
