In Capo Caccia - Isola Piana Protected Marine Area, near the town of Alghero, you'll find submerged sea caves. The most famous is the Neptune's Cave that offers a striking view with a shallow salt lake inside it. This beautifully lit grotto features an abundance of giant stalactite and stalagmite formations. The 120-meter-long saltwater lake boasts the same calcic salt structures as the rest of the cave.
The grotto is accessible by boat or by car. The easiest way to get to the caves is to take a ferry from Alghero. You can also drive to the site park atop the 110-metre-high Capo Caccia Vertical Cliffs and then climb down the steps. The entrance to the cave lies only around a metre above the sea level. Under water all around there are many big marine caves, paradise for the scuba-diving fans.
