Colca Canyon

The valley in southern Peru is the third most-visited tourist destination in the country. It is one of the deepest canyons in the world (3,270 m/10,725 ft.), second in Peru after the Cotahuasi Canyon and more than twice as deep as the Grand Canyon in the United States. The big attraction here are the Andean condors.

In this colourful Andean valley with pre-Inca roots there are towns founded in Spanish colonial times. The local people of the Collagua and the Cabana cultures maintain their ancestral traditions and continue to cultivate the pre-Inca agricultural terraces.
