Crazy cheap flights from Dublin, Ireland to Panama City, Panama for only €206 with United!
Panama City, the most cosmopolitan capital in Central America, is both vibrant metropolis and gateway to tropical escapes. Many worlds co-exist here. Welcoming both east and west, Panama is a regional hub of trade and immigration. The resulting cultural cocktail forges a refreshing ‘anything goes’ attitude, more dynamic and fluid than its neighbours.
Panama Canal
Completed more than 100 years ago, the 77 km (48 mile) canal that joins the two oceans changed the course of shipping and travel. One of the world’s greatest shortcuts, wedding east to west in global commerce, is worth marvelling. The canal enables ships to pass through a series of locks to get from one side to the other.
Go to Miraflores Visitor Centre, where an observation platform outside offers visitors a good view of the locks in operation. Watch the gigantic "Panamax" container ships passing through the locks. You can also check it out from the water in a partial or complete crossing of the canal from Colón to Panama City. After you’ve seen the locks from the inside, check out Museo del Canal Interoceanico de Panama.
