Puerto Rico, often referred to as “the island of a thousand blessings”, is the most diverse destination in the Caribbean. Surrounded by more than 270 miles of beautiful coastline, the enchanting island was blessed with great natural treasures and unique attractions.

Puerto Ricans are often called the happiest people in the world. With over 500 festivals during the year, you can immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of the island. If you want to party Puerto Rican style, attend the San Sebastián Street Festival. During the third weekend of January the entire San Sebastián Street in San Juan is closed for the Mardi Gras party. This popular event features live music and parades that draw 250,000 people.
Ponce, Puerto Rico's most populated city outside the San Juan metropolitan area, holds the famous Carnaval de Ponce (Carnaval Ponceño), dating back to 1858. It is derived from the old world tradition of a final celebration before the beginning of Lent. During the annual week-long celebration, street parties takeover the city. There are loud and colorful parades with wildly decorated floats, crazy costumed dancers and lots of music. The traditional masqueraders (“vejigantes”) with horned masks, represent demons that take from African, Spanish and Caribbean folklore.
