Just outside of Saranda you can admire the archaeological and natural heritage of Butrint, inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage list. You can explore the monuments dating back to the antiquity, including the city walls, late-antique baptistery, great basilica, theatre and Venetian castles.
In addition to archaeological remains, the site of the ancient city is situated within natural woodland with a complex ecosystem which depends on the nearby freshwater Lake Butrint and Vivari Channel.
