Fly from Praia or Sal to São Filipe Airport on Fogo island. Fogo means fire. Rising sheer from the ocean to a height of 2829 metres, the volcanic mountain of Pico de Fogo dominates the island’s landscape as the highest elevation of Cape Verde. The active volcano has created a unique landscape best explored on foot or horseback.
