Hi, if you don’t leave the airport and don’t stay more than 24 hours you don’ t need one. That’s why you need to go to Moscow SVO and stay there. more on this website http://www.russianembassy.org/page/transit-visa

From wikipedia: “Passengers travelling through 5 international airports (SVO, DME,VKO,LED,SVH) do not need a visa for a transit of less than 24 hours, provided a confirmed onward ticket is held and the traveller remains in the international transit area (without clearing passport control)”. I think it is better to ask BT respresentative directly.

These are 2 separate tickets and Air Baltic will deny boarding without a visa. Also you will need to pick up your luggage in SVO and to check it in for the next flight. That means that you will need to pass the passport control, so again you need a visa to do that

If you check in bags on BT you will have to go through Passport/VISA control at SVO to collect em and check in again with air China. With hand bag only, not sure.
