Great opportunity to explore the many contrasts of Malaysia, one of the best destinations in Southeast Asia! With this trip you will visit the beautiful beaches and the diverse nature in Langkawi, Penang and Borneo (Sipadan island, Sarawak and Sabah), contrasting with Kuala Lumpur, one of the biggest metropolis of Southeast Asia!
The Sultanate of Brunei (Bruneian Borneo)
Wedged in between the two East Malaysian states of Sarawak and Sabah, Brunei is a land of contrasts, with magnificent glittering mosques and charming water villages. This well-ordered and tightly regulated sultanate is devoutly Muslim. Immensely wealthy thanks to its natural gas and petroleum resources, Brunei is increasingly serving as a gateway to north Borneo, with its modern airport and direct flights from Australia, Europe and Asia.
In the capital, Bandar Seri Begawan, you should visit the famous Kampung Ayer (the Water Village) to see the lavishness of the Istana Nurul Iman, the world’s largest residential palace in occupation. The eastern part of Brunei is still largely covered by pristine jungle. The rainforests of Ulu Temburong National Park and beaches of Pantai are paradise. Take a boat up the river to the Belalong National Park and enjoy a canopy walk in the rainforest. The beautiful and calm mangrove-fringed Tutong River is home to Proboscis monkeys, eagles, crocodiles, macaques, kingfishers and other wildlife. Brunei also offers some great diving, with coral, fish, many species of nudibranch and several shipwrecks.
