As we’ve already informed you, Ryanair is cancelling 40 to 50 flights a day for the next six weeks. Thousands of passengers are furious over ruined travel plans. What to do now? Can you change your flight? Are you entitled to a compensation?

Yesterday we informed you of Ryanair’s decision to cancel 40 to 50 flights a day for the next six weeks due to a backlog of staff leave. Today we will help you understand the whole situation. Fly4free.pl has prepared a brief overview of what we already know, as well as a short guide on what can you do if you are affected (in the form of FAQs).

Q: What exactly happened?
A: In an official statement Ryanair announced that it will be cancelling about 2 percent of the flights that were scheduled to by operated by the end of October to improve the punctuality of the whole system. We quoted the full annoucement in yesterday’s article.

Q: How do I know whether my flight has been cancelled?
A: Each passenger affected should receive an e-mail or SMS with a cancellation notice from Ryanair. The carrier stated that this information will be sent to the email address used during the booking. We recommend that you check your inbox. You can also check the current list of canceled flights by clicking HERE.

Q: Should I ask for refund of ticket purchase cost? Where can I ask for such a reimbursement?
A: Yes, you are eligible for a refund if your flight is cancelled or delayed by more than three hours. You can do this at https://refundclaims.ryanair.com/. Ryanair stated that the refund will be made within 7 business days, in the same form as the payment was made.

Q: What should I do if I can not contact Ryanair?
A: Keep trying. Remember you are not the only person who is trying to contact the carrier. If 60 flights are canceled every day, there are thousands of other passengers in the same situation.

Q: What should I do if I can not return from my destination due to cancelled return flight/ depart for my destination due to cancelled flight?
A: First, try to change your flight for another by clicking HERE. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that your other upcoming flight will also be cancelled. You can also try to contact Ryanair via chat HERE or by calling on +44 871 246 0002.

Q: Will I be able to change my Ryanair ticket at the airport?

A: Do not count on airport service – they are not likely to be able to help you.

Q: Can I be sure my flight will take place?
A: Unfortunately not. Ryanair is not going to inform long time in advance about flights it intends to cancel. Most often their list is available on the day of departure. However, you can still check your flight status on ryanair.com.

Q: Am I entitled to reimbursement of my expenses for food, accommodation and other costs that I had to bear in connection with Ryanair’s decision to cancel my flight?
A: Yes, you are. The airline, according to Regulation (261/2004) of the European Parliament has to refund such costs. Keep all receipts for your purchases.

Q: Where do I find all the necessary documents and forms?
A: On the carrier’s website and the Civil Aviation Authority’s website:
EU261 Disruption Compensation Form

EU261 Compensation and Expense Claim Form

EU261 Compensation and Expense Claim Form

Refund Application Form
