Norwegian Air is going to expand its route map to Brazil! The fast-growing low-cost airline is adding its first route to Rio de Janeiro.
Norwegian Air continues to aggressively expand its trans-Atlantic schedule. The budget carrier is launching new route between London Gatwick and Rio de Janeiro. It will begin flying from its hub to Brazil on March 31, with four flights a week (on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays). The service will be operated by Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, with 344 seats in a two-class configuration.
We’re building on our expansive global network by launching our first flights to Brazil and making South America available to even more people. Our new Rio de Janeiro route breaks the monopoly on direct flights between the UK and Brazil as we’re committed to lowering fares and making travel more affordable for all leisure and business travelers, said Norwegian Air CEO Bjørn Kjos.
The new route will challenge British Airways, the only other airline flying between the cities. Norwegian Air began flying from London Gatwick to Buenos Aires earlier this year. The route to Argentina will increase from four flights a week to a daily service from December 3 in response to customer demand.
