Take a cable car ride to Kok-Tobe Hill, the highest point of Almaty, and enjoy the panoramic views of the city and surrounding mountains.
Go to Big Almaty Lake, a natural alpine reservoir, located 15 km south from the city, at the height of 2511 meters above sea level. In Medeu (15km away from Almaty) you will find a big ice stadium and the largest speed skating rink in the world. If you like winter sports, you can also head to Shymbulakski - a mountain resort, located at 2,260 m above sea level. Snow stays there from November to April and tracks are able to please any taste.
