The most famous lowcost airline in Asia has launched a giant promotion, offering 6 million “Free Seats”. Keep in mind that you still have to pay your flight taxes and fees, but those aren’t very expensive. Is it a good way to fill the aircrafts?
All airlines are facing unprecedented problems due to coronavirus outbreak. A huge drop in demand for nearly all flights, globally, is pushing airlines to finding new solutions and offering new ways of travel, for even lower price than before.
“We are thrilled to announce our first BIG Sale for 2020, providing ample opportunity to book an affordable getaway from early September up until July of next year. The best way to secure the lowest fares and great value travel deals is to plan ahead and book early – as with this latest Big Sale. We are on track in transforming into a household travel and lifestyle brand across ASEAN with all you need to complete your holiday planning including flights, accommodation, activities and more, all available now on airasia.com,” CEO Karen Chan said.
As part of the sale, you can book your “Free Seats” tickets, paying just the price of taxes and administrative fees. Additionally, you can take advantage of a 10% discount on checked baggage. AirAsia claims there’s 6 million tickets available for flights to Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam, India, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Malaysia.
Depending on the route, additional fees range from as RM12 (€2.50) for flights from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru, Langkawi, Penang, Alor Setar and Kota Bharu; RM44 (€9) onwards to Phnom Penh, Jakarta or Phuket.
Big Sale offers discounts for flights from September 7, 2020 to July 1, 2021. It’s possible that by that time the coronavirus-related situation calms down and tickets bought now can be a real treat.
