Cuisine of Sardinia

It is consumed along with the live insect larvae (maggots), about 8 mm (0.3 in) long!

You should try the worldwide famous piglet (maialetto) or wild boar roasted on the spit or boiled in a stew of beans and vegetables. Herbs such as mint and myrtle are widely used in the regional cuisine. Sardinia also has many special types of bread, made dry, like the traditional carasau.
