(UPDATED) Few days ago we’ve informed you that the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline is launching a new route from Kuala Lumpur to Barcelona via Istanbul, effective October 30, 2016. Unfortunately, AirAsia denies the news.

Updated on the 17th of August 2016: AirAsia X denies it will resume European service in 2016. The airline says Istanbul – Barcelona route have been loaded only to test GDS. The strange thing is that both IST and BCN airports were to be seen on their online route map. The new destinations have been already removed.

The news from the 10th of August 2016: The Malaysia-based budget airline is going to open a new route to Barcelona. After 4 years, the carrier will finally return to the Old Continent in October 2016. Current schedule listing on AirAsia’s website shows the airline to operate Kuala Lumpur – Istanbul Ataturk – Barcelona route on daily basis, with the following timetable planned:

D70001 Kuala Lumpur 10:00 – 15:00 Istanbul 16:30 – 19:20 Barcelona
D70002 Barcelona 20:50 – 01:20+1 Istanbul 02:50+1 – 19:30+1 Kuala Lumpur

AirAsia X is the leading low-cost airline to offer cheap flight tickets to Asia and Australia. The budget carrier is already serving over 100 destinations. AirAsia X previously operated Airbus A340s to London and Paris, but canceled these services in 2012. Now the carrier is going to relaunch low cost flights from Europe to Asia. An Airbus A330-300 aircraft will be used on the route with a seating capacity of 377. Reservation for this route is currently unavailable.
