Wizz Air has just adjusted carry-on allowance. The low cost carrier has announced that passengers will no longer be charged an additional fee to bring a large item of hand baggage into the aircraft cabin on all flights, starting October 29.

According to a new cabin luggage policy announced today, from winter season 2017 passengers will be entitled to bring on board one item of hand luggage which meets the dimensions of 55x40x23cm. The cabin bag must not exceed 10kg in weight. Hand baggage will be included in the ticket price.

We are working hard on ensuring that the WIZZ experience is as smooth and hassle free as it can get, thus no more fees for hand luggage on all Wizz Air flights from 29 October will further underline our commitment to this mission, the airline’s CEO, Jozsef Varadi, said.

Currently, the carrier’s small cabin bag policy allows you to bring one personal item that measures 42 x 32 x 25cm that must fit under the seat in front. For a fee, customers may opt to bring large cabin bag measuring up to 56 x 45 x 25cm. The new policy states that Wizz Air will drop charges levied on passengers taking a large piece of hand luggage into the cabin.

Customers travelling on or after October 29, 2017 that have already purchased large hand luggage directly through Wizz Air channels will be reimbursed with 120% of the price paid, credited to their Wizz accounts.

Due to cabin space limitations some of the cabin bags may not fit in the overhead bin. Probably some passengers will be asked to place their cabin bag in the aircraft hold (free of charge). You can avoid having your cabin bag put in the hold by paying for priority boarding. The airline launches a new WIZZ Priority service which costs between €5 and €10. It also allows those who buy it to take an extra small bag on board.

From 29 October 2017 Wizz Air will also give passengers a choice of two checked-in bag types (20 kg or 32 kg). You can check out the luggage prices for your trip using the Baggage fee calculator.
