In Azerbaijan’s coolest city you will also find the pearls of contemporary architecture, such as Heydar Aliyev Centre or the Flame Towers – the tallest skyscraper in Baku. The night illumination of Flame Towers is considered one of the best in the world. The three buildings are completely covered with the LED screens that display the movement of a fire visible from the farthest points of the city.
This city in northwestern Azerbaijan was a market centre on the Silk Road, linking Dagestan, Russia to the northern trade routes through the Caucasus. The Palace of Shaki Khans, constructed in 1762 without a single nail, remains one of the most visible landmarks of Shaki.
Admire the Shaki Castle with 1200 m long and over 2 m thick fortress walls. You can also explore the 18th century Caravanserai, used by merchants to store their goods in cellars.
